Jose Mourinho's Chelsea made it three wins out of three as the Blues ran out comfortable winners against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
The star-packed West Londoners were given a tough start, but once Didier Drogba headed them in front they went from strength to strength.
It took a little while for the Blues to settle down as Iain Dowie's outfit battled for every ball.
Indeed, Palace had the first chance after 10 minutes when Wayne Routledge's corner dropped straight on the head of Danny Granville but his effort was mis-timed as well as a yard wide.
But gradually Chelsea were taking control and keeping good possession.
Midway through the half, Joe Cole was on the end of a classic Chelsea move and unleashed a half volley from 15 yards which brought a flying stop from Julian Speroni.
But the Argentinean keeper had no chance with Drogba's opening goal.
Celestine Babayaro found space down the left, made for the byline before crossing for the Ivory Coast star to scoop low with a perfect header into the bottom left corner.
Cole was finding plenty of space particularly down the left channel and the midfielder again brought a great save from Speroni.
Palace, meanwhile, were sticking to their task giving Chelsea little space in the middle of the park and looking for the break from Andy Johnson.
The Palace hitman was well contained as Chelsea kept possession and stroked the ball around comfortably in all areas of the pitch.
The second half also belonged to Chelsea. Their movement off the ball and crisp inter-passing had Palace defending deep.
Still a long ball from Mark Hudson caught Chelsea out for once as Johnson got past John Terry but his speculative shot from the edge of the box went wide of the target.
Cole again stretched the home defence with a clever run as he dribbled inside the area but he fired into the side netting. Crossing into the area would have been a better option with Drogba well placed near the goalmouth.
But Cole showed his vision after 73 minutes with a neat pass to Drogba who swiftly fed Tiago just inside the box .
He cleverly slipped past the outside of Granville and then fired a superb shot from 10 yards which gave Speroni no chance.
