Palace warmed up for Saturday’s Premiership match against Spurs with this second-string clash at Selhurst Park that ended all-square.
The Eagles reserves dominated the game against a strong-ish Tottenham side that included Dean Richards and Simon Davies, but it was the visitors who took the lead in the 56th minute from the penalty spot. Young striker Lee Barnard stepped up to send the ball past Speroni.
Palace were not behind for long though, with youngsters Tyrone Berry and Ryan Hall impressing many in the crowd. After 65 minutes, Dougie Freedman made himself the space to deliver a low cross and it was Berry who tucked it away for the equaliser.
No further goals were to be found, but the single point puts Palace second in the Barclays Premiership Reserve League South. The Eagles are three points behind leaders Charlton, with a game in hand.
Palace XI: Speroni, Butterfield, Hudson, Popovic, Borrowdale, Dolan, Togwell, Freedman, R Hall, Shipperley, Torghelle (Berry ’45)
