Neil Warnock celebrates his 59th birthday tomorrow, and the Palace boss is hoping to top his day off with three points.
"My older children are coming down this weekend but it will be better if we could get a result against West Brom. That would put the icing on the cake," he said.
"Every manager will tell you that Saturday nights are much better when you get a result. So it will be a nice weekend for me - providing we get a result.
However, Warnock knows beating West Brom will be no easy task.
"West Brom have the best team in the league and they should have gone up last year. If they had, I think they would have held their own in the Premier League this year," he told the official site.
"The disappointment of missing out on the Premier League has made them even more determined. They've lost two good players in Miller and Phillips through injury but you wouldn't think that.
"I'm very envious of their squad but it just makes you more determined to build a squad like that.
"That's what it's all about. It's about not only getting a squad good enough to get promotion, but to stay up once you're there.
"They've got loads of forward players - everybody goes forward in their team - so there's no chance of them being defensive. They've only had one goalless draw in about 18 games this season.
"But we're not changing anything about ourselves - we will play our own game. It will be interesting to see how we cope with the problems posed by the best team in the league."
