Millwall midfielder Tim Cahill is on the verge of signing for Palace, after the Eagles’ offer for the player was accepted.
Cahill’s Millwall contract expires next summer, when he could leave the New Den for nothing. With the Aussie keen to play in the Premiership, our Bermondsey neighbours have decided to cash in.
The value of the deal is not yet known, although Cahill will likely command a fee in the region of £2.5m.
Theo Paphitis, Millwall chairman, told the club's official site, "Tim is a fine player and has been a great servant to Millwall over the past seven years, but has increasingly made us aware of his desire to move on.
"We believe that he could have realised his dreams of Premiership football at Millwall, but that is clearly not something we can offer him this season."
All that remains to be settled is for the player to agree terms with Palace and pass a medical.
