Palace have had long-term target Nigel Reo-Coker snatched from under their noses by West Ham.
The Eagles have been tracking the Dons captain for months now, but a late bid by Alan Pardew’s club was enough to seal a move to the Boleyn Ground. Palace’s £500,000 bid had previously been dismissed as “derisory” by the Milton Keynes-based club, but Iain Dowie refused to be drawn into a bidding war.
"We won't be bidding more just because West Ham have made a bid,” said Dowie.
“I want players who want to come and play for Palace. It's a big club and I was only too delighted to play here when they signed me.”
And Dowie has hinted that Eagles fans will soon see new arrivals to the squad.
“The squad certainly needs adjusting in certain areas,” Dowie told www.holmesdale.net. “We could do with a young energetic centre-half, although Granville did well last week when he filled in, as well as a goal-scoring midfield player and big strong centre forward.”
