Various reports suggest Andrew Johnson could be an Everton player by the end of next week.
Johnson is determined to get a move back to the Premiership, and various top-flight clubs have been linked with his name over the summer.
But it’s Everton who are now believed to be the front runners, with some sources suggesting they have already agreed terms with Johnson after being given permission to speak with the player.
The sticking point is bound to be the two clubs’ valuation of the goalscorer. Palace are under no pressure to sell cheaply, as Johnson still has four seasons to run on his contract. However, it’s believed Everton have made a bid of just £5.5 million – £1.5 million less than Liverpool paid for Peter Crouch.
