Palace will play Northampton Town in the third round of the FA Cup after the League Two side were too strong for non-league Stevenage Borough.
The Cobblers hit two goals in the closing minutes of the first half in last night’s replay between the two, which proved enough as they went on to win 2-0.
Northampton – like Palace – were pre-season favourites to win the title in their division. However, their form has been erratic, and – like Palace – they find themselves just outside the play-off spots.
However, they have only been beaten three times on the road this season – with one of those defeats coming at Norwich in the Carling Cup.
The third round tie will be played at Selhurst Park on Saturday 7th January, with a 3pm kick-off.
