Mark Hudson has repeated his desire to leave Palace should he not get a regular starting spot in the team.
The central defender joined the Eagles 18 months ago after a successful loan spell, but has made just 14 starts since then.
Although boss Iain Dowie is keen to keep all his players, Hudson feels a move away from Selhurst Park would be best for his career.
"I have asked to go on loan for first-team games, but the manager has said he doesn't want me to leave and wants me to stay to be a part of the squad," the 23-year-old told the Croydon Advertiser.
"If I'm not needed then I'd like to be let go," he continued. "I don't want to leave the club, but it has just come to that. We have three centre-halves and other players can play in that position as well. We have cover there. If it means me leaving, then that is the way it has to go."
