However, Francis was pleased with the second-half display and the Palace fight-back that secured a hard-earned home point against The Gills.
"The first half was unacceptable and was a real disappointment," Francis said after the game.
"Something had to be done at half time and a change of system helped certain players.
"The players applied a lot more enthusiasm and looked to be enjoying it. Wayne Routledge is a breath of fresh air the way he plays the game."
