The Portuguese centre-half is only on loan at Palace from Benfica, and is unsure at the moment whether he will stay in England or return to his parent club at the end of the season.
"If the gaffer wants me here and things in Benfica don't go as I want I would look at a permanent deal," Fonte told the South London Press.
"I have told the boss I would like to stay and we'll see what happens. I don't feel under any pressure because I've got two years left on my contract with Benfica.
"If I was still there I might be playing, because they are struggling for centre-backs at the moment. A new manager is coming in as well, so I'm not sure what is going to happen."
