Crystal Palace's trip to Preston is likely to come too soon for Darren Ambrose and Sean Scannell. The attacking duo have returned to training following long spells on the sidelines, but are not expected to feature at Deepdale. Ambrose, last season's 20-goal top scorer, has been missing for two months with a badly bruised leg, while winger Scannell suffered a knee injury in pre-season. Full-back David Wright, who managed just one appearance since his summer switch from Ipswich before picking up a calf injury, was on the bench at Norwich on Tuesday and could be involved again. Centre-half Claude Davis serves the second game of his four-match ban following his red card against Millwall last weekend. Defender Lee Hills and midfielder Neil Danns (both knee) are still missing.
