Black told the Guardian: "I want to stay at Crystal Palace for the remainder of my career. I am a London boy, I want to stay here and take Palace into the Premiership. I do not want to miss that.
But with Palace chairman Simon Jordan currently looking to reduce the wage bill, Black faces an anxious wait.
"I am hoping it will be before the summer because I'd rather not have to play with the threat of not knowing what's going to happen," he said.
"It is something I'd like to get out of the way so when the club's ready, I am all ears."
