Burnley pulled one back just 4 mins later when Carlisle scored at the right end but they could not get an equaliser and as the game entered the final 10 mins Palace were looking to hold on.
But then came a Burnley blast with three goals in the final 7 mins. to make it 4 - 2.
After going 3 - 2 down Palace spurned a great chance to level in injury time but the miss was punished when Burnley broke to score the 4th.
Not the best of preparation for another tough awayday at Swansea on Saturday.
