Palace reserve team manager David Swindlehurst and Academy Director Derek Broadley have lost their jobs in what Chairman Simon Jordan calls a "cost cutting exercise".
Swindlehurst was shocked at his dismissal, having recently been offered a new contract. He is qouted as saying "I am shocked, having only just been offered a new contract. We have some exciting youngsters coming through the ranks and I thought I was doing a pretty good job".
It is understood from sources close to the club that Broadley is devastated to lose his job. Several members of the Operations department are also rumoured to have been made redundant, although we have yet to substantiate exactly how many.
Jordan had already warned that the players would not be offered lucrative deals when their current contracts expire as he aims to put the club on a sound financial footing following the collapse of the ITV Digital deal.
