Palace manager Trevor Francis hopes to complete a double transfer swoop in time for this weekend's start of the new season.
The Palace manager is close to agreeing terms with Dele Adebola who has impressed Francis during a two week trial at the club, and is available on a free, having been released by Birmingham at the end of last season.
Francis also hopes to complete the signing of Brentford centre back Darren Powell. The two clubs have agreed a fee of £500,000 and Powell has agreed personal terms with Palace. The signing will now depend on the result of Powell's medical. Francis is keen to have both players available for the season's opening fixture at Preston North End on Saturday.
